Dr. Jose Fuentes shares his journey from cleaning school toilets to becoming a respected scientist in climate science and sustainability. Despite facing obstacles as an immigrant in Canada, a chance encounter with a professor led him to pursue graduate studies. With a background in math, computer science, physics, and chemistry, Jose fell in love with these subjects in graduate school, where he found supportive mentors and classmates. Inspired by his roots in agriculture, Jose’s undergraduate thesis on microclimates paved the way for his interest in meteorology.
